| The fEARfuls were originally designed as a DIY cab. You buy all the raw parts, cut the wood, solder the crossover components, assemble the whole thing yourself. There are builders out there that will ship a to-spec fEARful to your front door. All you need is money.
There is a middle ground, however. Recently, Speakerhardware.com started selling cutkits in various stages of completeness (wood only, drivers and crossovers only, combinations of the above). I just bought a complete kit 10 minutes ago. I'm not kidding; you cannot make this stuff up!
I have the ability to cut the wood and assemble. However, I have no woodshop anymore. I have the tools all piled in my garage but not enought room to set it all up. I also don't have enough free time to set up the garage for cutting 4x8 sheets of plywood and all the headaches that goes with it.
However, I have room and time for a folding table that I can clamp/glue precut pieces of wood into a cab, solder the x-over, etc. You get the drift, I'm sure.
The options are out there. |
