Fender Bassman 100T - chapter 2 - Page 2

Interesting feedback, especially coming from a fellow Genz Benzite. (I'd been planning to use the 100T with my GB Focus 210 and 115 cabs.) I need to stop thinking about how the 100T would *look* with the Fender cabs.

well wish me luck! Maiden voyage (gig wise) tonight. Sure sounded good at rehearsal last night. still not settled on the blend setting though when I'm using some overdrive. The gain seems to be either a lot or tons! so the blend is the key. I'm sure I'll find the sweet spot. mainly using the vintage channel--sooo smooth and creamy with punch when I want it through my Berg. HT112er's. But they always sound good with whatever is feeding them. I did turn the tweeter down quite a bit though.

Well, this weekend's venue turned out to be larger than I planned, so I wound up using my trusty svtcl/810. I'll report back in a few weeks when we do some small club gigs...Stay bassy.

Here's what it sounds like with a P Bass/flatwound strings/tone rolled off. 25W setting on amp. Vintage channel. Settings: Bass 3, Midrange 10, Treble 1. Genz Benz XB3-410T cab with tweeter at 50%. MultiComp compression pedal at 10 o'clock. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=cxD02m_paDo

If I get this amp I'm pretty sure that I'm going the use it with a 500w cab(that's all I have). Will it be loud enough as a speaker, or just as a monitor?

It's not the power rating that will dictate that, it's the efficiency of the cab. I use a single Bassman 410 Neo cab, which is rated 500w continuous, and is not super efficient, and with it the 100T it generates more than enough volume to fill the house on small/medium gigs and to fill the stage on larger gigs.

first gig with 100T went super! I really enjoyed the texture of the notes. I suppose I could on and on with as many adjectives I can think of but instead I'll simply say this was the easiest time I've ever had not over playing. This is going to be a wonderful adventure learning this amp.
as has been said many times in this thread, if you're on the fence just pull the trigger

I'm far from knowledgeable about amps and cabs. Can someone explain what is the benefit of being able to set the amp at 25w instead of 100 ? Wouldn't that simply change where you end of setting your volume

The #1 thing is using the OD channel and getting tube break up with out blowing the windows out.

I ran my 100T into my 215 Dually at rehearsal last night...sounded great. However I couldn't help but feel that this amp ultimately will have slightly less clean headroom than I will need. Damn. I need to use it in a gig situation first to know for sure but I'm already scoping out the 300 watt Super Bassman and the Traynor yba300 (again).

Do you have a greenboy Dually?
3015 or Faital Pro 15PR400 loaded?
I have found that the 3015's do break up sooner.

Using the OD channel with the gain down blend on 1, volume 8-9 and master 8-9 I can get a lot more clean volume with 3015's

Godblender I own the 100t and the sb300 and favour the sb300 in a gigging situation for precisely that reason.Extra headroom plus the extra power gives more control and weight to the bass.

I wish the overdrive channel wasn't as fuzzy. I still have the original tubes.

I swapped out my tubes right away.
I can get the OD channel just as clean as the vintage channel but much louder.

I have swapped out my tubes too and can also keep my overdrive channel as clean as the vintage on.e. Interestingly I have not swapped tubes in my sb300 but I still have no trouble using the overdrive channel clean if I want.
