Fender Bassman 100T or Jules Monique/Minnie
Hey peeps. There are knowledgeable people out there and I'm after some input on this. I was originally heading for the bassman 100T but then started thinking about the Jules after reading the reviews. My main question is does the monique give that full tube sound?!
Volume isn't an issue, the 100 watts of the bassman would cover anything I need so having 800 with the Minnie isn't a deciding factor.
The 100T does have the two channels but I do have pedals for dirt.
Would be great if someone who has played both could chime in
Thanks in advance
I used to own a SVT-CL for a few years and played a loaner Bassman 100T when they first came out for a couple of weeks. Monique definitely does "tubey". Reminds me of a very articulate and super clear SVT. Monique will not do heavy overdrive though. I also use pedals for dirt when I need it, so not a big deal for me.
The Bassman 100T is a great amp, but I prefer the Monique to anything else I have owned including a 60's Bassman, SVT-II, Hiwatt, GK, Genz Benz, Aguilar, Mesa, etc.
I do think Minnie is pricey for what it is and would recommend a Crest, Crown or QSC poweramp instead. A little bigger footprint, but a 2000w (bridged) poweramp can be had new for under $400.
Monique is by far the best sounding amp/preamp I have played in almost 30 years of playing in any case.
Cheers! That makes sense about the power amp.
Try both if you can. I love my 100T and prefer it to any other amp I've owned.
I'm not saying one of them is better than the other. It's all up to you, your ears and what you prefer.
