fender bassman 59 reissue

So I'm planning on purchasing a fender tv duo ten combo in the next few weeks, but ive started to wonder about maybe trying a fender bassman 59 re-issue. I know its a guitar amp now, but was wondering if it would still be good for bass? What kind of tone should i expect out of it?

Awesome amp, but it is a guitar amp. 4 10" spkrs in an open backed cab. Bass is ok, and will sound great, but only at fairly low volumes. The Bassman Duo 10 is a modern, but vintage sounding bass combo, and would makle for a much better bass amp.

I would also like to suggest you try the TV Fifteen. I played through both, and chose the Fifteen. Deep warmth!

The 410 Bassman is a great studio amp, the open back gives a lot of tones that close back cabs don't have. The preamp is really nice for DI as well, an awful lot like the older version Demeter Tube Bass Preamp.

EDIT: For instance I believe that Joe Osborn used an open back 410 Fender tube amp on a lot of his studio work in L.A. OTH, for live work, you will run a large risk of blowing drivers at anything other than moderate volume levels.

I owned one for awhile. Great guitar amp as previously stated, one of my least favorite Fender bass combos.

If you are going to spend in the neighborhood of $1300 + then consider one of the Fender bass combo's as already stated.

How does it compare to a B-15 Portaflex? I can get a '59 Bassman reissue for $675. I could get a Portaflex for twice that.
