Fender Dual Showman 2x15" with Ampeg V4

Would this be a good rig for bass? I know the cab was meant for guitar but I am looking for a fairly portable vintage 2x15" and this used guitar shop has one and I'm thinking of trying to get it for around $400. Will this cab handle the V4 well? thoughts? oh yea i am playing 60's garage rock style stuff with a flatwound shortscale guild bass, looking for an Animals, Rolling Stones type sound. thanks!

I'd try to get them lower, but best bet is to take in your Ampeg and try it out.

I`m an old timer that remembers a few bass players that used the dual showman. Awsome! More would have done so but the cost was so high and the bassman put out a very good sound for the money. You would like the sound it produces providing you have enough room to use it (playing in big places where it will show its best side). Take care. Bob

You should be okay at low volumes, but once you start to turn it up it probably wont be too good for the cab. I'd say pass on it, and wait for another deal.

+1. they're guitar cabs and not very good for bass.

It will work well for the application, but it will need work too. The cab is seriously lacking in bracing and internal insulation, which when added will improve it at least 100%. Make sure it has the original JBLs, or if replacements that they are JBL, EV or Altec, not some cheap Radio Shack junk. IMO it's worth maybe $300 with D130s.
