If Matt Freeman has one, that means I need one. Or so says my inner punk kid who loves his bass tone.

That really doesn't surprise me. The things sounded damn good but were pretty expensive for what they were and no expansion capabilities....no extension cabs to turn it into a big rig when you need one. I think Ampeg's new pf line pretty much took over that niche.

Agree. IMHO they asked a lot of cash for an OK combo in swanky tolex.

Ya, the pf's nailed the whole "classic/vintage looks and tone with modern features" thing for a whole lot cheaper and they're expandable. When comparing the two, I don't know why one would choose the TV unless it's specifically for a certain look and money being a non-issue.

Mexico makes most of Fenders tube amps, all other amps outside of the custom shop are indonesia for the most part.

Huge Fender Bass fan Not so much a fan of their Amps. Hope these are diffrent. Lost of Jazz guitarist use the Bassman cause of it's rich tone.

From the big thread...the 100 watters seem a bit spendy. The 300 watter is priced in line with Ampeg, Orange, etc.

Granted, I probably got a better deal on mine than most - but the TV was my choice because of its tone and its portability. Playing smaller venues, the expansion (or lack thereof) was not an issue (another reason I chose a combo amp). Additionally, I have yet to hear/see any of the Portaflex clips with as much delicious tube breakup as my TV gets.
