Fender Rumble 75 Help?!?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello, I recently purchased a Fender Rumble 75 Watt Amplifier and although it sounds very good, certain notes cause the protective grill / screen (or perhaps its actually the "Fender" logo on the screen) to rattle quite a bit. Would tightening the screws on either the screen or the Fender logo help? I am simply trying to get an idea before I go tightening up everything for nothing. Thanks a ton!

if it feels like you could strip something out, then dont continue, but the grill and logo would be my first guesses. if you can't tighten the logo, try shimming it with something.

I Recently went through something similar with the 100w 2x10 version. In mine, the papper in the tweeter seperated around the edges. Even unplugged it rattled around enough to sound bad ( Like it really neede help anyways) If so, a replacement tweeter is availabe from Partsexpress.com for around $2

I have a rumble 75 and it started the same noise. I removed the grill and made sure everything was tight. I plugged in and played with the grill off and still got the noise. At the edge of the speaker are the accordian folds(I guess that's what they're called) and they have a black coating on them. In one location this coating looked extra thick like a run or bubble when painting. I played some bass notes and as I lightly touched this area the rattle/noise stopped. I returned it to GC (within the 30 days) and am waiting on a new one to arrive. Hope this helps. I still like the amp.

I know this sounds crazy but it sounds just like the grill rattling but was the speaker. Speakers can make strange noises sometimes.

Btw, what EQ settings do you use on this amp??

In some cases it might be the chassis itself that has cracks (due to bad transportation), so check that out. Anyway, such is life with low-cost Fender Rumbles...
