Fender Rumbler......any good?

Sign in to disble this ad
I have an Ampeg BA-115 right now, which to be honest isn't cutting it. I've been looking around and i don't typically like fender amps, however the Fender Rumbler 350 seems to be a pretty solid amp. So i'm just curios to see if anyone has one or has performed live with one and can let me know how it performs. I'm just in a 3 piece band...but my drummer bangs the sh*t out of his drums so i need something powerful without breaking bank.

I made a similar post a couple of months ago, and didn't find too many people with actual gigging experience. I did try it out at the local shop, and I really liked it alot. It made my Stagg sound good (which is a rarity), and the options on it were great, 4-band EQ, 2 distortion knobs (which allowed me to get a little distortion without sounding tinny), aux input, horn, etc.

I had a lot of poeple recommend the GK MB-210. which essentially the same combo ($100 or so more), but you can buy another extension cab if you need to, and it will give you a 410 (or even a 610 if I'm not mistaken) at 500w 4 ohms. But in my research on it, I found most people loved the GK, but I found a lot of complaints about the horn sounding very cheap, and you had to keep tightening up the screws, but everyone didn't seem to mind so much, so it must be a really good sounding combo. The MB-212 seems to get a little more praise but you can't add an additional cab to it.

I'm still shopping for my next setup, but I think I'll go with an 8 ohm Avatar cab and some 500w head. Just so I can add another amp if I need more power, and for the versatility. Plus, I've never owned anything powerful enough to gig with, and I felt that in some instances the Fender may fall short. It does have a line out for a PA. I did really liked it's tone.

What's the return policy at the store? Maybe you could buy it, gig with it, and return it if you need to.

Alright thanks for the info and advice. Im not sure what the return policy is, im planning on going to guitar center tmrw to see if i can trade in my ampeg and put a down payment on the fender and see if they'll do short term financing on it. I'll also check out that Gallien Krueger and see how it sounds, anything thats more powerful then my ampeg will do! That's definatley a plus that with the GK MB-210 you can add on a cab, you dont find that with combos to much, so that would be something good for the future.

and I reread my post, and the thing I said about the screws needing tightening wasn't major. It seemed like something to just quickly check every couple of weeks or something. I think it was just four screws that screwed into the amp, and if they got loose then there would be a faint rattling sound. But some blue Lock-Tight or just checking it once a week would cure that.

Oh, and the MB-210 weighs like 22 lbs or something ridiculous like that. I saw a Youtube video of a guy carrying it with one hand like it was a shopping bag
