| sounds like it could be a dirty pot, but it could also be a bad tube, bad capacitor, cold solder, etc. you could try cleaning the pots with deoxit cleaner, but if that doesn't work, best to take it to a tech. shouldn't be very expensive, and certainly less expensive than diagnosing it yourself and throwing money at possible causes and not nailing it.
