Can someone give me a quick schooling on how the vintage channel with its passive tone stack works? Are 5's across the board considered "flat"? I thought I read something about it depending on the position of the other two knobs (in regards to bass, mid and treble)? Thanks for any help. It gets here tomorrow!

It gets here tomorrow! | The "Vintage Channel" is a passive tone stack that is "cut only". I believe this means that a flat setting is with the bass, mid and treble at 10. (At least that's what the manual says.)
Channel two is an active tone circuit that has both cut and boost. There is a center detent between 5 and 6 on bass, mid and treble knobs on that channel to indicate a flat setting. |

Tom is right that 2-10-2 should be flat (when is he ever wrong? ), ands there are click points on channel two for flat. FreightTrain did some experimenting and to EQ the vintage channel to the same tone as flat on channel two, you might want to have a look at the results on the other thread. Ultimately, of course, use your ears, but I have found that a little bass goes a long way with this circuit and you are right about the setting of one tone control affecting the others on the passive(vintage) channel.
And welcome to the club, Husky, you should love it. I have owned many tube heads over the years and this is the "one" for me. I also have the 100T but to be honest it just doesn't get out of the house now I have the SB300 - it is relegated to a practice amp. Even on quiet gigs I prefer the feel of power in reserve that the 300 provides. Guess I am just spoilt  . |

I hope the vintage side isn't mid shy. I loooove my mids but I'm sure the overdrive side will have plenty to offer. I probably just need to relax and wait until it gets here.

I can't get any volume out of it before the speakers distort badly. The bias on the tubes are all green. I'm playing active Spector's through it but honestly their output isn't that hot IMO. Any thoughts?
Edit: Disregard! It was the speaker cable that Fender sent with the amp!
