Sign in to disble this ad
I'm planning on buying a smaller backup head for touring/amp for doing local gigs and sessions when at home with.
I've read loads of good things baoutthe new fender pro amps and have tried the fender amplitube plug in demo to get an idea of the tone and i'm digging it.
Question is do I go for the straight up tb-600 head or do I go the preamp way and buy a quality power amp. I've never done the preamp and poweramp thing, but the tbp-1 does have slightly better features like a jensen DI etc.
How much does a power amp affect the sound? Would the tone be better coming from the head it's matched power section or would the pre/poweamp combo give me options and possible better tone?
Any help much appreictaed! |

I suppose my worry is the power amp, I don't really know much about them or what brand to go for in terms of headroom and reliabitlity! |

You can also rack a couple of pre's with a power amp for only a couple of pounds extra weight. I have two (an ART and a BBE), which at times has been useful, and provides a backup.
That Fender pre is very very nice.
