Fender Tone Stack Help

I see stuff about the fender tone stack mentioned every once in a while... particularly that it is "cut only." Also have heard that flat on a fender amp is treble at 10, mid at 5, and bass at 10 (or something like that). Is this true?

Can someone help me out a bit with what this means. should I start with my tone nobs up at 10?

Also, my amp - Fender bassman 100 - only has treble and bass on the bass channel that I use.

From what I've read, "flat" on a Fender tone stack is 2-10-2. Maybe try starting at 2 with the bass and treble, and dial in to taste?

bass - 2
mid -10
treble - 2

that's flat on most fender passive stacks
