Fender tone stack question (BBE vs. Fender)

Sign in to disble this ad
So this isn't necessarily about bass amps, but sort of...

Is there much difference in the EQ points on the BBE bmax vs that of a fender twin guitar amp? I have been in the market for a guitar amp, and I love the fender sound, however, the prices are a little out of my range. So I was thinking, what if the Bmax pre, which has the fender style tone stack, could work as a fender-ish preamp, and throw that in front of an epiphone valve jr?

Or is the Bmax tailored more for bass?

I know, this isn't really all that bass-related, but I have a feeling the guys who know the answer spend more time here than in misc or ot!

Don't see any reason why it won't work. Don't know where the bass knob is set, maybe a little low for guitar, maybe not but big deal. Bass knobs on most amps are set too low for bass imo (40hz, rediculous). Can't boost anything there, only cut. They should be set at 80, bare minimum 60. No cab can do anything with 40hz other than fart.
