Fender TV Buzzing

Sign in to disble this ad
I purchased one of the new Fender Bassman TV15 combos in march. This past week I let my friend borrow it (against my better judgement) and now it has a very noticeable buzzing/popping sound whenever I play, especially when lower notes are sustained. I have tested the amp with different input cables, with and without my pedalboard, through both jacks, even using different power cables and power outlets. I also tested each of the pots individually and it was still happening. Any idea what the problem might be?

The only thing left I can think of would be the tube, but I wouldn't think that it would play at all if the tube was blown or if there was a short somewhere. What's weird is that the tone of the amp is just as good as when I lent it to him, except there is the buzzing.

Thanks in advance for your help

Could be he damaged the speaker by sending too-big spikes through it. Could be a loose wire or solder joint.

The speaker was my first guess, too. People who play with things that don't belong to them are often not concerned with how they treat those things. That's a shame, but lesson learned, I hope. Take it in and have it looked at, make your "friend" pay the bill.

Speaker or solder joint issues would be my first guess. Warranty first, fists and friends later.
