Finding the impedance of an unmarked cab....

Sign in to disble this ad
I recently received two older Polk audio bookshelf speakers. I really really want to hear these things, but I need to get a poweramp. Problem is, I don't know the impedance. Is there any way to find this out (google=no.... I tried).
Ps: it's not really a cab persay, but it still works.

Thanks

You can mesure resistance with a multimeter, and that will get you close enough... Generally speaking a cab with 4 ohms of impedence will read somewhere around 3-4 ohms resistance, an 8 ohm cab will read somewher around 5-7 ohms of resistance... IME, most home audio speakers are 8 ohm...
