Firebass w/ hartke cab?

Sign in to disble this ad
So I am looking at getting a Peavey Firebass 700 amp head, and I look at the specs and see that it puts out 475 watts at 4 ohms. I have a hartke VX 410 that's 400 watts at 4 ohm. So if I plug the firebass into my cab will the result be catastrophic?

i know a guy who uses the same rig, sounds pretty good, just use your ears and if you hear the speakers distorting crank down the volume a bit and you should be fine

don't go crazy with the volume knob, also you won't have to.

So I've found a firebass for $75 but the pre gain pot is 'broken off'. How much would that probably be to replace/fix?

Dunno. But if the amp works even with the pregain pot broken, then I would buy it. After all, what if the repair was 100 bucks? Still a good deal.

Is the pre gain able to be bypassed?

I will always like the Peavey Firebass. They are great amps. Regret selling mine. If the amp works, the preamp pot should be a relatively easy fix.
