Hi guys! I'm new here.
I have been playing the bass for about a year now.
I really like this instrument and I'm planning an amp upgrade. Right now I have a diy 5 watt EL84 tube amp and a crappy Stagg bass amp but I usually play through my studio monitors + sub. But that's not an ideal setup either.
I want to buy something that will last a long time for me, but I don't want to spend too much.
I play a jazz bass. I mostly play vintage rock and I like a warm, fat sound like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ljpO5DIPhVQ
I was thinking about buying a head and cab because that's more flexible than a combo.
I saw a second hand Hartke LH500 head for 160 euros (price new is here 300 euros). It's a really simple amp with a tube front end and 500 watts of solid state power. I thought this might be something for me because I really like my tube amp, but it's very low on power, even for home use. Will the much more powerful Hartke do it for me?
For the cabinet, I will need a 2x10 or a small 1x15, because I don't have a lot of space in my room. But i don't know what type will sound best for me.
I saw a second hand Yamaha BBT210S for 180 euros. It's a 2x10 with a tweeter and 250 watts. It's 4 ohms so my small tube amp can be connected to it, that's a plus. Is this cab something for me?
Every opinion is appreciated.
