Hey guys! This is a pretty cool site. I've been playing bass for about 30 years, full time for about half of it. I took the last 5 years and worked a regular job, which I still have, but I'm ready to go back out and play. I miss getting free drinks and getting flashed by women and then getting paid for it. I have a Hartke 1 x 15 cab that has a blown speaker. Can I just buy a Hartke 15 or will I have to get a whole new cab? If so I will just go with the 2 x 12 for portability. Thanks....

Hey, it happened to me this weekend, but I was at the lake.

Just as good.

EDIT: Welcome Roy!

Yes, you can just replace the driver as long as you get one with the right specs. I would recommend calling Hartke about it. They have a good reputation for customer service.

That is unless you're looking for an excuse to buy a new cab, in which case your 15 is shot, beyond repair and you'll need to spend some cheddar on a new (to you) top-notch cab

Yeah - you can get a replacement 15" speaker. Ask Hartke what they used in your particular cab. If it's one of theirs, they will probably sell you one. If it's an Eminence, they should be able to tell you the model.

Or you can go get yourself a nice 2x12. If you get a high-quality 2x12 it will probably be a little bit tighter than your 1x15.

But who told you a 2x12 is more portable than a 1x15?

Perhaps he was thinking of a lightweight 212 or 2x112 vs. a standard 115.

Thanks fer the input guys. I will just call Hartke. The 2 x 12 cab is 8 lbs lighter than the 1 x 15, and smaller, so easier for 1 guy to carry. But I will be all over this site, cuz it's awesome! They didn't have stuff like this when I started playing.

I'd go for a new Orange OBC115, the best 115 cab made.

Have you compared it to an Aguilar DB115? Just curious. I'm a HUGE fan of my DB115.
