First time Amp buyer

Lookin to get a nice fat sound primarily for funk/soul/ etc.

Don't need anything too powerful, but definitely want a wide range of tone.

I hear Ampeg is good...any suggestions?

It is your lucky era - this is a golden age of great, reasonably priced bass amps.
It's hard to go wrong with:
Ampeg
Aguilar
Gallien-Kreuger
Genz-Benz
Markbass
Mesa

And many others. Have fun with the hunt!

That's a great list. If you can test out three or four from this list in person you'll be sure to find something you like.

check out the TC BG250.

There is a thread related to this relatively new amp. I got one in December and I'm very pleased. A lot of bang for the buck. There are also several Youtube vids that are very good. Street price is $400.

Good luck.
