Fixing broken volume pot

Sign in to disble this ad
This is about my amp but i figure repair forum is the best place for me.

I have a Hartke 3500 that has been treating me so well the past few months. However i accidentally kicked the amp while passing by it and broke off the post on the volume pot.

Is there an easy way to replace the post or do I have to replace the whole pot? Right now the vol is dimed so I adjust levels with the preamp gains.

If I have to replace the whole pot where can I find the specs to get a replacement....Larry Hartke hook it up!!!

Hi.

A temporary fix would be to drill a small pilot hole onto the shaft and to insert a screw to turn the potentiometer.

99% of the potentiometer shafts are not replaceable.
Unless You gut another one for spares that is.

As for the ease of changing, IIRC 3500 is one of thosea amps that have PCB mounted potentiometers. Changing them is not difficult if You know what you're doing, but PITA none the less.

As for the value and taper, those values are usually stamped or inked onto the casing. The schematic should have that information as well.

Regards
Sam

You could contact Hartke's service department and tell them what you need. They'll sort out the proper part# and send it out. Get a tech to do the repair unless you are experience with amp repair.
