Ive been thinking about pickin up a 2x15 from fliptops like this one: http://www.fliptops.net/catalog/prod...roducts_id=626
I would probably ask em to wire it instead for 4 ohms if possible. These seem like a great match for my V4B and a good price.
does anyone have any experience with ANY of their cabinets? Ive ordered from fliptops before, and other than it always taking longer than they say Im always really pleased with what they do.
any thoughts?
one thing that makes me wonder is that some of the cab descriptions are a bit squirrely where it sounds like they may have just gone.."uh, this is probably a good speaker for it" instead of looking at the science that fellas like Bill F. and Greenboy are good at providing.
but then again, Ampeg in the 70s may have done the same thing! LOL!!

I've been thinking the same thing.
I to have a 70's V4B Head.
Also, this cab might be very cool, with a new Micro VR Head ? |

It's nicely made, although I must admit the Vintage Blue double baffle cab I have is a step above in artistic value and construction quality. Still, they do very good work and my cab was actually done ahead of schedule, and whereas Vintage Blue only does early blue checker Portaflex cabs, Fliptops does repros of pretty much the entire line of vintage Ampeg cabs. Thumbs up.

Given all that I've read on TB about the flatback 810's being sort of the "ultimate" svt cab for a lot of people, I'm wondering what their flatback cab would be like loaded with the Eminence legend b810's. I currently have a Vietnam 810av cab that I like but it doesn't deal with the 5th string as well as I'd like, so would this be a significant step up from what I've got now? |

It will definitely take some digging, but they do pop up, and if you can find someone to ship you'd be set. Although, if you don't want to wait, I'm sure this is a viable option.
As far as construction quality, they make good stuff. Haven't had them build me a cab, but they've done repro carts and grills for me and they're certainly good quality. |

At the risk of being a little off-topic, I should say here that I am quite happy with my Vietnam ampeg, I've had no trouble with it, it sounds classic like it should, and it projects sound very well, which is a problem I've had a tough time dealing with using some other cabinets. It also works great with guitar, but I might be in the wrong forum to say that...
Anyway, tangent ended. Back on course! |

I had one of these guys for a short while... http://www.fliptops.net/catalog/prod...roducts_id=795
It seemed well built and sounded good, though I never opened it to look around. I bought it used so I can't comment on the turn-around time or customer service. |

I think fliptops is authentic in what they do to the point of still living in the "allow 4-6 weeks for delivery" for everything era, instead of the "ebay expedited shipping" days the rest of the world has moved into. Its OK though as long as you know what to expect, also even when Ive had a problem with an order/mistake they took care of it 100%!!
