How do you securely attach the speakers to the baffleboard when making foam/glass cabinets?

I can think of a couple ways but do not want to re-invent rectangular wheels.

3 ways -

1 - Tee nuts

2 - Use a wood baffle

3 - Drill out the holes and fill them with cabosil/epoxy mix. Do this before making your cutouts.

Why would you make a foam bass cabinet? Or glass?

They're talking about fiberglass and composite construction materials. The strength to weight ratios can't be touched using traditional materials like wood and MDF. The tradeoff is that they are difficult or very unpleasant (fiberglass) to work with and require some specialized skills, and usually some creative engineering, like how to fasten speakers to the baffles.

How else can you end up with a 19.5 pound (8.87kg) 1x12 cab.

Another Composite cab build - inspired by Zac

Ohhhh, FIBERglass. That makes much more sense.

Cab seems pretty cool. How hard is it to put together something like that?

It's MUCH more complicated than building a wooden cab. Not for the faint hearted for sure!

Besides all the other suggestions, you could look at how footstrap inserts are built into sailboards and kiteboards. These guys have nice selection, and know a ton about composite construction methods in general.
