Focusrite Red 7 channel strip

Any of you tried a Focusrite Red 7 channel strip? Found one in one of the mixing rooms at my college, and was blown away by the results on. Voice, harmonica, bass. It sounded great. No front-panel DI -- and I'm unsure whether it has one on the rear panel -- but it was really warm and juicy. Had the swiftness of a classic solid state pre, like an API, but the warmth of a Neve or even the Universal Audio 610.

Compressor was fantastic. VCA-style. The input level on the compressor really allowed for tons of variation. No idea what the knee is on the unit, but it's not adjustable.

Anyway, I can see why it lists for $4k. Handmade. British. Gorgeous.

I was just listening to my band's demos and recording vocals with a Control|24 last night!

Cool! I'm learning the C|24 right now. It's my first foray into PT|HD, and I'm absolutely loving it. Too bad I don't have the spare $10k to upgrade my home studio with one.
