Wondering what speakers should be loaded into the cab and also if the cab with those speakers would be good for dirty lows. Not looking for a hifi cab at all here.

I built 2 of these for PA, I loaded them with Eminence Deltalite II 2510. I did wire in a switch to shut off the tweeters if I wanted to use them for bass.

I did try them together with my 800RB. They sounded good but not better than my 2x15 cab. It just must be the fact that I really don't like 10's for bass. I have tried several cabs with tens 4x10s, 6x10x, 8x10s. I never liked them as much as I liked 15's.

For my use as PA tops, I have not heard a better PA speaker. Clear and articulate. For that purpose I would recommend them wholeheartedly. For bass you'll have to hear them yourself to make that determination and at that price, I'd take the risk.

For $40, it's well worth while. I think that Bill recommends Deltalite 2510's.

As far as dirty - I'd say that if you put dirt into them from an overdriven amp, they'll do dirt. But they won't sound like a torn celestion (unless you stick a torn celestion in them).

They are the favorite cab of many on the BFM forum. Super efficient. They're just tough to build, so buying them pre-built, and for the cost of the plywood - that would be a no-brainer for me.

Bass response will not be all that strong, IIRC. They are built with no ports as far as I can see. Pair one up with a Tuba24 and now you're getting somewhere...

My 250a has ports that help LF extension for standalone use. I plug them when used with a sub. It's not very useful for bass unless ported or used with a sub.

Those are the old style DR250 with the exposed butt cheeks.
The only real design change is in the throat, and that is mostly for build simplicity.

Unless these are improperly built, they are a steal.
Note the exposed butt cheeks are thin stock, and much more easily damaged.
This is why the new design has them enclosed.

Sonically, there is no difference between these and the current DR250 design.
