FUSE TROUBLE

Sign in to disble this ad
I RECENTLY HOOKED UP A SINGLE CD PLAYER TO MY HARTKE VX3500 AMP. IT STOPPED WORKING. I WASNT PLAYING IT LOUD EITHER. ANYWAY, I CHECKED AND CHANGED THE FUSES. ONE WAS BLOWN. WHEN I REPLACED THEM THE 4 AMP FUSE KEEPS ON BLOWING. IT CALLS FOR ONE 4 AMP, AND ONE 8. HARTKE WAS NO HELP TO ME WHAT SOO EVER. I JUST CANT UNDERSTAND, EVEN BEFORE I TURN AMP ON, THE FUSE KEEPS BLOWING. I AM NOT TOO SURE AS TO WHAT SIDE IT POSSATIVELY GOES ON, SO I TRIED THEM BOTH. AND EACH WAY, THE 4 AMP BLOWS. HMMMMM. IS THE 4 AMP WRONG? HMMMM VERY MIND BOGGLING. THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR ANY HELP.

IS IT POSSIBLE THAT YOU'VE GOT TOO LOW A SPEAKER LOAD ON YOUR AMP AND IT'S JUST TRYING TO SURVIVE?

Unplug the amp from the power outlet. Disconnect everything from it. Now turn it on. If the fuse blows, it's tech time.

The 8 amp fuse is for using 115 volt AC, the 4 amp fuse is if your voltage is 230 AC

It's all in the manual

Third button up on the left of the keyboard. Press it. Looks like this Caps Lock

So then, should i be using 2 8amp fuses instead of one of each? Kinda lost. And these fuses are very hard to find. No one sells these 8 amp fuses. I would hate to have to bring it in a shop for something stupid. Thanks all

Hi.

Where do You live? What's the wall voltage?

Just like Bass Pounder said, 4A for ~220V 8A for ~110V, obviously.

8A fuse doesn't follow the standard, but then again, neither does 4A. Both are used regularily though, so every RS or eqvivalent should carry them.
Have You tried the car section in Your local hardware store?

Regards
Sam
