What amp, without any pedals, will get me a very fuzzy type tone? High wattage is preferable

A dimed valva jr. is about the dirtiest I've heard, although you might need 30 or so of them for high output.

Didn't some Acoustic amps have a fuzz circuit built in?

I have an Orange AD200B it gets overdriven when I turn the gain all the way up but I need to kick in my rusty box (killer DI) with full gain and volume and it goes into full blown fuzz. I honestly don't think any amp will go into fuzz unless it's all tube and cranked all the way up; (Volume and Gain) with a high wattage amp it may be too loud at the point. Save yourself the trouble, buy a good tube amp and a really high gain pedal to boost it into fuzz; It's worth it.

If you run across a used Mesa/Boogie D-180, give it a try using the channel 1 input.

Why high wattage? Get a dymo labeller and put 1.21 Jigawatts on an amp that is low powered enough to get fuzzy.

Fender 300 Pro with the 2nd channel gained out!
OR the Fender 1200 bassman/ Sunn 1200s that is the same amp as a rackmount hybrid instead of all tubes.... yeah... Im selling one, but thats not why Im posting this.. Im a fuzz junky, and I sometimes play with no pedals, just the footswitch for this amp and Im REAL satisfied..

G-K Fusion 550 with the gain set high. Used to like the "fuzz" feature on the ACC 360/361

+1

The 2nd channel on the 300pro has a LOT of gain available! Not just overdrive, but full-on distortion bordering on "fuzz". You can also get it at any volume - not just with the amp cranked.

Is the amp loud? Umm,... yeah. It's loud alright! Ear destroying loud with a cab that can handle it.

The channel 1 input can get ridiculously nasty... but it also doesn't have as much low end as channel 2 does, which can also get some grind going.

Yes, but the fuzz isn't as fuzzy as an amp which sounds like it's about to blow up. Turning on fuzz is noticeable in the 361 I have, but I wouldn't say it's hugely fuzzy.

You could also use an Orange Thunderverb or however it's spelled for bass, too.

My '70 SVT.

6146B's
+ channels jumped
+ ultra high engaged
+ mids at position 2 at about 3 o'clock
+ both volumes past noon
= Your bass now sounds like a guitar through a dimed JCM800.

High wattage and fuzzy equal the Orange Bass Terror to me. That gets a seriously wooly fuzz going with the gain cranked.
