Fuzzy Tone - bad speaker cables?

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm just on my way out to a show and just did my normal 'plug everything in and play' test to make sure my amp is working properly (my rack is 80s gear and Im always a bit nervous) and my tone is sounding a bit fuzzy and distorted.

I turned made sure my gain was way down, but it doesn't really sound like preamp distortion, it's just a bit off.

I have a poweramp/preamp setup and no extra speaker cables at the moment. If one of the cables is a bit jivey would it cause this?

*edit*
After calling my drummer to see if he has any extra cables, he asked me if my tweeter control accidentally got turned up. Turns out it has. My stuff is already packed up so I didn't test it out again, but I blew my tweeter a while ago so I'm assuming that's the problem.

Gotta love bandmates who know your gear better then you do!
