G-K 210MBE's further delay

Sign in to disble this ad
Just got an email from RMC. My 210MBE (waiting for 2 months) due end of June has just been pushed back to July/August. I wonder what the delay is now? Speakers... shortage of void-free plywood... the handle... sheesh... Don't mean to rag on RAG (sorry), but how tough can this be? Definitely not a shortage of neodymium magnet material. We get all of ours (we buy by the ton...) from China. I'm just (remaining) curious, I still want the cab. My MB210 remains lonely.

Many times the risk involved in off shore manufacturing is the loss of control which can include manufacturing time in someone else's component factory, labor, local customs, shipping, etc.

BTW, I too would like to try a MBE cabinet; considering the price and the weight I can't believe that they will sound great as it would be too good to be true; doubt that GK will ship them if they don't sound decent though

There is no "someone else's componet factory", that China plant IS rag's. That factory is a G-K owned and operated plant that RAG regularly visits.

We are heavily backordered on everything we make. New products had to get in line at the end. I am hiring and training personnel as fast as I can but it does take time and I do not want quality to slip. We have completed the first run of 210MBE and they will be here in about four weeks.

Bob,
Is there a production schedule that you can share regarding these new products?
Congrats on the backlog; I'm sure many in your industry wish they had that problem.

Thanks Bob. I appreciate and understand your response. I do some business in China and find it very challenging for many reasons. Keep up the good work, and the high quality. Just gassin' for that MB210+210MBE stack! Just thinking, there's probably a 115MBE in my future as well...

I believe these are supposed to be the same footprint and materials as their counterparts with the integrated amplifiers (MB115, MB210). If this is indeed the case, the sound should be similarly excellent.

HA! You can say that again. I went through 3...count 'em THREE Ampeg combos that ALL arrived with broken "stove top" control knobs, crushed control panel plates, internal problems that caused one unit to completely DIE within ONE hour of being plugged in and played, and other issues.

So how did it turn out, OP, did you get your GK yet?

I'm thinking about pulling trigger on one of these combos. Tell us what you think of the tone, options, versatility, etc. Please...thanks.
I'm also considering the 2x12 unit. I wonder how they will differ in tone.
