Gain button help GK MB212

Sign in to disble this ad
I had my amp sitting in practice room for last month or so as we have been idle of late, when i took it home to play on the gain knob was acting up.
When i turn it up or down or just tap the top of it it crackles loudly and volume raises in an almost distorted tone.
Im hoping this is a simple fix of the pot just needs cleaned?
I know im no newbie but ive never had this problem on an amp, is this as simple as getting a cleaner and pulling off the knob and spraying it?
Or do i need to be worried?
Or is there more to cleaning the pot than that?
thank you

Wish I could help ya....sounds like a dirty pot though. Have you called GK? They might have more info on the best way to proceed.

Remove the knob and a quick shot of DeoxIT (NO WD-40) and work the control back and forth quickly. Anything beyond that and it maybe a bad solder joint is to blame.
