gallien krueger 1001rbII problem/silent

Sign in to disble this ad
I have had my amp head (paired with a 410rbh cab) for about three years with no problem. Recently my setup went silent. The power lightnis on but no sound is coming though. Also, I produces sound for a couples of minutes then goes quitet for the rest of the time I am playing.

Anyone with a similar experinece? I brought it to get repaired and they said the signal was fine and could not determine the problem.

Thanks.

Sounds like what my 700 did when my preamp died. It was a $75 part i believe.

What color is the light? This can help you tell what the problem is.

Then it's likely not on the power board. It's likely the preamp board, and that a relatively easy fix if you're experienced with such things. If not, take it to a shop.

Also, the repair guy I took it took said that he could not detect any problems signal wise throught the input to the output. He did this by sending an electric signal and measuring the out put. It seemed as though the output signal still increase with the master volume being turned up. However, their s nor sound coming through the cab when connected.

What makes you say that it is the preamp?

Just curious.

If the light is blue (operating, as opposed to red, error) and signal is passed (and amplified, as you stated above by definition), the problem would seem to be with the cab, not the amp.

Sounds like a cable problem or a damaged cabinet to me. Try the amp with a different cabinet and a new cable.
