Gallien Krueger 100RB issues...sort of...
I have a GK 1001RB (first edition) that I bought used a few years ago. I've only run it a few times, even though it sounds great and I really like GK. My other main head is an 800RB. Anyway, I remembered one reason I had kinda put it on a shelf for a while. I hooked it up and ran thru it today. I played several basses, a Spector, a couple of Fenders, my Rickenbackers, through the amp. It sounds great. What concerns me is that once in a while, when powering it up it goes straight to protect, but there is no other strange behavior out of the amp. It's not overheating, it's wired appropriately, it's not taking an improper speaker load. I don't know what is going on. When that happens, I'll switch it off for 5-10 seconds, not change anything, switch it back on, and it grooves again, with no adverse issues. It all seems to be functioning as it should. The sound is clear and punchy, eq is responsive, everything is great, except that now and then it goes to protect when powering up. I wouldn't be so concerned if it did that and I changed wiring or something else and it clears it up. I'm literally doing nothing more than turning it off for 5-10 seconds and it runs again with no trouble. Anyone have any ideas?
