I just got my new Sweetwater Music catalog, and they list the "new" GK 400RB IV.
I guess GK brought it back out?? Any differences?

| | | | one of my very favorite amps ever! i much prefer it over an 800rb |

| | | | I've got an 80's version that's been a real workhorse....and it still sounds great...
I thought the Backline 600 pretty much took the place of the 400rb
don't they share the same power amp section? Any one know of any other similarities or differences? |

PS. If I were going to upgrade the 2 X 10 speakers (currently the OEM that came with the combo) what would be recommended?
PPS. I think I'm singing the "Ooh's" and Aah's" on Knocking On Heavens Door here!

The price increase has stopped me from dropping replacement speakers into old cabinets though. I have been buying new cabs since the larger manufactures haven't really raised neo new cab prices yet. Since you are attached to that combo, I feel your pain. I had 2 of them...

At 280 watts some have stated that the 400RB IV sounds a little louder than the Backline 600, and that it is catergorized as a little more professional grade amp. Any one care to share. |

The 400RB IV, BL600 share the same power amp design. The preamps are very different between them though.

Same or not, I still want the 400rbIV, and should have bought one before they stopped. I had rehearsal last night with my new band, and the drummer has a wonderfully light touch. I'm not complaining though...... It's awesome being able to hear everything clearly at rehearsal, and I think the band will all the better for it. But man, I'm not firmly set in the "sweet spot" for the 700rbII and neo112. I need the lower wattage of the 400 so that I can sit firmly in "growl" state. I can't wait for it!
