Gallien Krueger Backline 600 (broken)... Please help!

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm looking buying a broken GK backline 600 bass head & fixing it up... The guy who is selling it said he was playing it one day at a practice and all of a sudden it stopped working. He said that whenever it turns on it blows the fuse. He said something about the "tivoidal transformer". That's what he thinks it may be...
Please help!

It sounds like you're not someone qualified to go poking around in high-voltage audio equipment. I'd skip on that whole fixing it up thing.

I'm happy with my BL600, and am quite handy with electronics, but would not pursue extensive repairs if there were problems involving the power section. My reason is simply that a used BL600 can be had for about 200 bucks. The toroidal power transformer could be fried, but if so, then something else might have caused that to happen.
