Sorry 'bout that. | "Speakon outputs" - I called it an input because the end of the plug goes into it. My bad - Won't happen again.
Now we can get off the subject of speakon terminology and get on with the subject of the 800RB.

Interesting about "features" on amps. Robert A Gallien was the one who introduced the bass amp world to DI's, effects loops, tuner outs and mutes.

Love the Duff bass! | I have an older 800RB and it sounds great with my Ampeg B410 HLF on bottom (4 ohm) and SVT210 up top (8 ohm). Too loud even for the 150-person venue we play! Hey, is that power conditioner really a necessity?

Thanks, It needs another 212 cab but it needs to be a series one which I only find when I dont have the extra cash. Even when the BBE is on one thing this rig is not lacking is mids, especially with the Jazz Special.

| | | | Correct ,there are other cabs out there that You can use with the 700RB. My point is that the bi-amp feature on the 800 rb and 700Rb are completely different, Buyer beware |

| | | | the 800rbs bbiamp function is actually useful if you use distortion. the 550's makes all distortion sound horrible. I only use the 550's horn function if im playing guitar through it and I want my guitar to sound like a chainsaw.

The 550's distortion can sound ok enough, if you turn your cabs horns off.

| | | | Not sure about every where else. But where I'm from, it was considered an industry standard. Every sound/backline company favored them. I owned two of them only to sell them and regret it. I have been currently pursuing one. Great, reliable amp! |

| | Registered User | | Join Date: May 2007 Location: Baltimore,Md. | | | So long 800RB I had one of the newer ones (2003 I think) but sold it to help fund a Markbass Sa450. I used it for a backup to my GK 1001RB which I liked more. The reason I bought it was I saw it at Guitar Center for $300 new. It was a floor model that wasn't working properly. So I asked if it still would have the full warranty, and the salesman said yes. So I took it to an authorized repair shop and got it fixed for FREE! So, I had a brand new GK 800RB for $300! I liked it a lot and thought it sounded best in a loud environment. It was kind of boxy sounding in less than medium volume situations. I tried the mid cut, but I thought that was too drastic. Anyhow, I'm sorry I sold it. Great/bullet proof amp. |

The gk800rb's biamp function can make distortions sound better, while the 550's biamp/horn just makes it sound like butt (except for guitar, where it can get interesting sounds if youre into noise).
