Gallien Krueger MB 112 or MB 115?

Sign in to disble this ad
I am deciding on purchasing either an MB 112 or an MB 115. I can get the MB 112 for $309 and I can get the MB 115 for $370. Mostly leaning toward mb 112 for price but the mb 112 appears to not have a cooling fan. Would this be an issue? Has anyone tried both of them? I am having trouble deciding with which one to go with. I play a five string bass too. Need it for home practice and playing with a group running through a PA and/or alone not going through a PA. Mostly it should be going through a PA though. Thanks.

Well, I don't know about the MB112, but the MB115 has IMO plenty of power for small to medium gigs and rehearsals, it comes with a DI out for PA support, a cooling fan, and clocks in at 35 lbs. So for the extra $61 I'd go with the MB115.

I own the MB115 myself and would definitely recommend it over the MB112. Double wattage plus larger speaker/cab means significantly better with the B string. You'll be glad you spent the extra 60 bucks.

I also own the MB115 and use it as my upstairs practice amp (My main rig is downstairs in the studio) It's pretty powerful and has great tone IMO.... go for it!!!

Looks like they're both 200 watts. Only difference I see is the speaker, $61, and 7 pounds.

The MB115 can be had from Amazon for $339 (sold by Musicians Friend). That's the same price as the MB112 on Amazon. Free shipping.

I only see $399 on Amazon from Musicians Friend. Can you send me the link for the MB 115 for $339?

Looks like it's gone now. Google shopping search for the MB115 shows $339 from Amazon/Music123 but the actual listing is for the MB112. Sorry, I guess I should have ordered it while I could. I've seen the Amazon listings change prices before but don't know enough about Amazon to say why this happens.

MB115 has the limiter, and horn on/off. Plus, due to the gain/boost/master volume configurations, they do sound a little different.

Id actually play both and decide what one you think sounds better.

Yo guys, I'm about to purchase one of these amps too. Guitar Center has them both included in their 15% off coupon until 9/5! Brings the MB112 to like $288... I'm in the same boat, I have no idea which one to buy! Get em while you can!!

does the mb112 not have horn on/off? that sounds like a deal breaker if it's the case - at least, if everything i've read about the hissing horn is true.

I'm fairly certain the MB112 has no horn.

I bought a mb112, and while I liked it I found myself wanting more power. I returned it and got a mb212.

Of your choices, I would go with the mb115 for sure.
