Gallien-Krueger MB2 500 footswitch question

Sign in to disble this ad
I just picked up a used Gallien-Krueger MB2 500 amp at a great price but it didn't come with the footswitch. I'm wondering if I can use a cheaper alternative to the GK RF-II footswitch ($60) or if or even make one from some parts from Radio Shack. Would the Ibanez IFS2X ($30) footswitch work?

Also, the RF-II has two buttons on it. Are both of these buttons used for the MB2 500 or just the boost button?

I have no idea. My MB500 came with a single boost footswitch -- chances are very good you could just have one built by a pedal guy or something for not much, or use a generic 1-button.

GK's support is the group to ask though.

I just tried one of my older generic one button foot switch on my MB-500.
It works perfectly. It cost my $14 brand new.
Later..

That's what I was hoping for. I didn't want to spend $60 if I didn't have to. Thanks.
