Gallien Krueger MB2-500 VS MB-500

So I open my new MF catalog last night and see at the bottom of one of the bass pages that either the GK MB2-500 or the MB-500 is available for purchase. Your choice, $499. Both have extremely similar descriptions. I was unaware that there was more than one iteration of this amp. Can anyone shed some light as to the differences of these two? Thanks in advance!

I am assuming the new MB-500 is just different guts from different sources, or tweaked. There were a lot of problems at first with the MB2-500. I had to return mine to GK and they replaced a board and it's worked great ever since. They were beyond cool about it.
I'm hoping they've got it right this time and the MB fusion debuts soon. You hear it a lot, but they seem to give a damn what the players/buyers think. That coupled with realistic pricing makes for a great company.

According to RMCAudio they've redone the EQ and made some minor tweeks. I DO know they added a limiter on the MB500.

We're all hoping to see the MB Fusion soon.

The MB-500 and MB2-500 are essentially the same. GK has dropped the "2" for more uniformity in the product names. The internals are the same from the last update of the MB2-500 on the MB-500, the only differences are a switchable limiter and Speakon only speaker connections on the MB-500.

That makes sense. I own the MB2-500, and couldn't understand what was changed with the MB-500. Thanks guys! Also, I'm really looking forward to the new fusion. Dying to read some reviews.

Sorry if this is a revival, but which one is better?

The MB500 is the most recent iteration, so you'd proably want that. This head was originally called the MB2-500. But it's the same basic amp.
