To compensate, i usually turn the tweeter on my cab down and the treble on the amp down to around 9 or 10 o'clock. For those who like all their knobs at noon no mater what, this may not be your kind of head. The fan noise seems to differ from head to head. Mine is barely audible when it kicks in. For me those small issues are not deal breakers for a head thats so small and powerful, especially at the price they go for. I can do most of my gigs with the mb800 and either my Neo 210 or 212.

I don't care about fan noise, but a high pitched whining sound that I could hear clear as day playing with a rock band in a live situation is not something I'll live with. There was something wrong for sure.
I wish I thought to record it...

I wish I thought to record it... | I experienced high pitched whining for years, ...until I decided to divorce her. Guess that's different. Yet, it is truly unacceptable.

I will probably send it back for another one, but am yet to do so. A bit disappointed with this issue.

Mine was basically to replace an 800RB that I didn't want to gig as often. If it didn't do what the 800RB did at least reasonably well, if was basically useless to me. I'm sure that I could have gotten a different one that didn't make the noise, but with the reports I started to read about issues I'd rather just get out of it while I can.

I wish I thought to record it... | I totally understand that. Seems like there is a bit of a quality control issue over there. Im glad i got a good one

I know Chef mentioned that it might be mid January but this was the latest info I got over the past few days so I'm really hoping mid December

This axiom might be even more true in forums like this, as it's someplace people with problems can publicly vent, and/or problem solve by getting access to tech help.
Many times, happy customers "have nothing to report, situation normal, everything working."
For those folks that have problems; and every brand has problems; the issue in my mind "isn't the problem, but the resolution."
When I've had problems with GK product, they've stepped right up, and been immediately and effectively helpful.
Which is what you hope for, when you have a problem, I think.

Yes there is a slight hiss but this is not a bedroom amp, It is a gigging amp meant to be used at spl that require hearing protection. The thing about GK is that real people answer their phones and they will do everyting and anything to satisfy their customers, and since moving all production to the USA, there will be growing pains, not to mention that Mr. Galiien himself monitors the forum. Any way my .02 cents, peace | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
