Gallien Krueger MBE cabinets series vibration issues?

Sign in to disble this ad
I am looking for a light weight cabinet, and a GK MBE cab looks good on paper for a basic, low weight and also low cost alternative. I just read in a thread here (Cabinet vibration in Ampeg SVT-15E) about vibration issues with an MBE.

MBE owners with micro-heads, do you experience this, MBE cabinets being "rattle traps"/vibrating the head off the cabinet, or are yours solid? What models do you have?

I did a forum search but could only find threads about the MB combo series vibration issues, not MBE cabinet/micro head vibration issues.

I had a vibration problem with my MB210 combo. I opened up the MB210 to see if I could find the source of the vibration and found that the speaker terminals for the bottom speaker were facing the port and the wires were rubbing up against the port. I rotated the speaker just enough to move the wires away from the side of the port, making sure I didn't put any tension on them and that solved the problem. I also have the 210MBE extension cab but haven't had any problem with it.

The vibration in the MB210 didn't happen the first few times I gigged the amp. It developed on the third or fourth gig.

Not so far, MB115, running 70-80% range at gigs.

MB500 with 212MBE 8 ohm and I have not had any vibration issues to speak of.

There is a difference in sound/tone between this cab and the NEO 212 i have, but I prefer the tone of the MBE....more presence, plenty of volume, even if it doesn't have quite the same low end "depth" that the neo 212 has

IMHO steer clear of mbe and MBX and go directly to Neo-2

MBE 212 + Carvin BX500 here. No rattling, no noises. I mounted my head in a 6 space rack with a power conditioner because I was worried that it might not stay put, but I never actually had a problem.
