I also know that to control the tweeter in full range mode, you use the dial on the back of the cab. That's not really applicable to my situation though as I am using the cab in bi-amp mode.
And to Stevorebob, I am using the proper cord and am only using a single cab that is set to bi-amp.
As to the last part of your response B-string, are you asking or telling me that the limit lamp is only used in bi-amp mode? Sorry, the question mark is throwing me. Can anyone else verify what he's been saying about the lamp only lighting in full range mode? | The question mark is due to my confusion on how this could be happening. If the tweeter control is at 7:30 the tweeter amp is barely working. It has been my understanding the the limit lamps are not active in HMS/biamp at any rate. Email jason@gallien.com he can shed more light on this than I can, he was/is lead service tech and is artist relations at G-K and always a big help to any owner. I am interested in the outcome. Maybe a stray wire in one end of the speakon cable but I still don't see how that would affect the limit lights without also blowing the horn. Jason is the man.

Jason is the man. | Yeah, I barely run the tweeter amp because the hiss bothers me. I have a noise gate, but then you hear nothing until you strike a note, and the hiss is more noticeable than if it was just constant.
I'll email him and report back. Thanks for the help. |

I've been a 2x112 user for a long time. I stack them vertical 99% of the time.
Works great.
Except that after using Baer stuff, and fF based stuff for a while, the GK stuff doesn't sound quite as fat.
Well, Tom Bowlus hipped me to the GK 112/212 thing.
Which ends up being nicely fatter than the 2x112 thing.
Yeah, it's 3x12, so it oughta be. And yeah, it's more to move.
But, it's still light and easy to move, and just a really good thing, IMO.
Not the best pic, and "Devil Eyes," but there ya go.
Also, I like using the ampwedge between them to point the top 112 at me a little more.

And by circuit I mean electrical thingy. Ground. Thing that might be different and account for some hum when the two meet. I just made that up.

.. | I know combos don't get much love around these parts, but I just picked up another MBP12, which made my bar rig the MB112-II/MBP12/MBP12..600 watts 3x12 , 52 inches tall of friggn cool a@$ rig!!I used it this weekend in a room that I have used my MB800 in the past and it held its own and then some... 3 12 inchers will pass serious wind!!!As for the DI's , Mine on both my GK rigs are noisy, Thats why I use the MXR M80, dead silent anywhere I play, money well spent! |

All I can say is check it out before you dismiss it. Plus there are other options for a DI that you may prefer. The Darkglass come to mind. |

I'm using an Ampeg fridge right now, but I want to get back to using GK cabs. I'm in a Hard Rock radio friendly band. I use the ampeg fridge because it sounds good but also looks big.
Image is part of the decision here, I compete with 2 guitar tube full stacks live... My one 810 is doing the job... but I of course (as a bassist) love to try new gear. LOL
what is everyone's thoughts? |
