anyone else ever have problems with distorted and overdriven speakers through the ampeg? i experienced this problem before with my previous head through my 810 but it was just a volume thing with the bass..but i just picked up the 410HLF and put my new fusion 550 through it and it immediately started doing it at high volume, havent tried it through the 810 yet..my bass is active anyone have any insight at all? maybe using a different speaker input something i would appreciate..

Try starting with the master all the way up, and then bring the gain up from 0 to set your volume.

If there is an active passive switch on your head that might help. Try it through the 8X10 and see if it is the same, the 8X10 can take a bit more juice ... The 4X10 HLF is rated at 500 Watts RMS @ 4 Ohms ... The 8X10E is rated at 800 Watts RMS @ 4 Ohms. The head is 500 Watts into 4 Ohms, if you have it cranked you might be reaching the extrusion point in the HLF at which point you need to turn down just a bit, in order to extend the life of your drivers. Hope this helps. Cheers.

i see 3 possible scenarios:

1. you're way louder than the cab can handle

2. you're running so much low end that the cab can't handle it at the volume you play at

3. it's broken

i'd bet on 1 or 2, but i'd also bet it's soon to be 3 if you keep it up
