I can get the GB for $500 new delivered or the Carvin for $351 with classic tweed look.
I already have a promethean so this is the back up/computer room amp....
What would you do???

If its just for a backup then definitely a great choice, the best sounding small amp I've ever heard. I could even play with a quiet band a little, but it won't be sufficient for any gigs or what not. My two cents....

| | | | I know that it don't have enough oomph to play loud. Small back up...
I just like the idea of GB quality...

| | | | I might lean towards the Carvin, it's got a nice feature set and the tweeter is nice, plus a bigger driver 10". |

| | | | The small size is a plus to me... I believe that its 10+ lbs less then my promethean combo...

| | | | I have tried out the 3.0 head and know how it sounds plus all the great reviews.
I am not so sure about the Carvin...

| | | | .... I have the Carvin MB10 and it absolutely kills. By itself it shakes my walls on 3 (Drive at 5). Dropped it on my Avatar SB112 during rehearsal and had to turn down under half. The BX250 head built-in to the combo gets loud and has a great EQ section. You can go from clean to aggressive and VERY punchy. Great amp for recording, mic the speaker + XLR out for stereo recording pre or post.
I'm sure the GB is nice to but there are limits to an 8" speaker and it does cost a lot more. Carvin's CS is outstanding by the way, don't be fooled. |

| | | | I pulled the trigger on the GB. I think if I didn't have the Promethean I would have thought harder about the MB10.
Everything I read on the GB was positive. I couldn't find enough on the Carvin, good or bad.
I'm not looking for this to be my main amp. I bought my Promethean untested because they are so hard to find. I guess I didn't want to do that this time. I played the GB through a 4x10 cab with only a bit of mid bump and it sounded great.
Who knows, a few months from now I will buy a Carvin....
With my collection of miniamps I will rule the world!

I only got rid of it because the music store ordered the wrong size Genz Benz bag. They got one for the 3.0/10t so instead of ordering me a new bag they let me trade my 8.0 for a 10.0. The 3.0/10t actually works better on gigs because of the kickstand.

With my collection of miniamps I will rule the world! | I’m getting there… TOO MUCH EQUIPMENT!!
I just “one-click” shopped a new MM Sterling Bass at Amazon.com yesterday too. DAMMIT!! Stop me!
The GB should be a great little amp. I’m sure it is, so is my Carvin. |

| | | | I will need an amp for my vacation place...
Isn't it a rule that you need one amp per room?
I did have some post purchase remorse today but it soon passed...
Neither the Promethean or the Carvin have an effects loop... That was another plus for the GB...
