GB Shuttle 6.0 gig report

Sign in to disble this ad
Well, it's been a long time coming but the band had it's first gig last night and I decided to use the Genz Benz on the gig! All I gotta say is Wow! The thing kept up with no problem and didn't even break a sweat! Didn't even get warm! I ran it at 4ohms using 2 Avatar cabs! I didn't max it out either! Gain and Volume were both at about noon and the Master Volume was just a tad bit past noon! EQ: Bass was at 3 oclock, both Mids were at noon and Treble was at 3 oclock. Boost buttons: Bass and Mid were engaged, I didn't engage the Treble because it gave me too much high end.

I also own a Markbass LMIII which I wanna try out at the next gig and I'll report back here!

gotta agree,... I love my GB 6.0

never had to even turn it up to '12 o'clock' at any stage... basically leave everything untouched except put the mids up at around 600hz (I play fretless 5 string in a metal band). It cuts through the mix like a knife through butter, sitting in between the drums and guitars perfectly. play through a Crate 4X10 which isn't the greatest but actually sounds pretty neat with the GB powering it vs the Crate head!

Nice to hear!
I use GB 6.0 with 2 Avatar Neo B210 and I too have never needed to push it at all. Gain around noon, volume at 10 and master volume about 11. I use the bass boost which I find tightens up the bottom nicely. Eq bass @ 2, mids @ 1 and the mid freqs between 10-11, treble set flat.
I love my GB 6.0, nice, warm and fat tone. I can get a gritty tone or nice smooth modern. The ability to put it it in its case and then in my gig bag makes it even better! Thanks Genz for making a great product.

I just tested a Shuttle 6.0 and found the output much lower than my LMIII. I play an old '72 Fender P that is, I guess, not a power-house. I liked the Shuttle enough to buy it but it definately requires more twist of the volume knob than my LMIII with my ol' passive bass.
I tested through a pair of Berg 12's (AE and EX).
I am anxious to hear this thing in a group setting. I hate testing with my bass. I am not a soloist and I always feel kinda silly playing bass lines with no band.
The over-driven tube sounded pretty cool, I must say.

What do you guys set the horn at?

For the growl, I have the gain at 12 O'clock, Volume at 9 O'oclock, Low at 10 O'clock, the Mid at 3 O'clock, Mid Freq. at 9 O'clock, Treble at 12 O'clock and Volume at 12 O'clock. The 1st and 3rd Signal Shape buttons are pushed in. The horn is at 60%

not quite sure what you mean by horn but I have EVERYTHING set to 12 o'clock except for mid freq at 11 o'clock and mid at 2 o'clock,... gives me brutal mid fretless cut through amongs crazy drummer and distorted guitar

I'm really looking forward to the LMIII report and comparison.
