GB Shuttle 9.0 crackling gain

Hey,

I've got a Genz Benz Shuttle 9.0 and love it, my only concern is that when I turn the gain knob, it crackles very loudly as I turn it. Does anyone else have this problem?

Have you replaced the preamp tube? Though it could also be a bad pot, bad opamp as well could cause crackling.

My shuttle 6.0 master knob does this. I need to crack it open one of these days and spray some contact cleaner in the pot.

Are the pots on this amp board-mounted? That would *bite*...

Both of my 6.0s, and my 12.0, would crackle when the pots were turned, but only when signal was being sent through the amp. I've chalked it up to being a peculiarity of the design, and have (mostly) learned not to be playing when I turn the knobs.

There should be no crackling, please call Scott or Jeff at the factory. He will take care of this. Do not spray "contact cleaner" in any of the controls, this could cause damage to the parts. There are contact cleaners on the market that will destroy pots.
