Genz Ben problem (GBE1200)

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello everybody,

I hope someone could help me with my recurring problem...

Just for information I have checked all the standard stuff (cable, speaker cable, bass battery, etc).

When I plug my bass into my GBE 1200 sometimes I have a little distorded sound, its sounds similar to an active bass with a used 9v battery.

Curiously sometimes I succeed to solve the problem pushing on and off the buttons of the Global Signal Shape and sometimes I don't.

Sometimes everything is alright, I can play several gigs without any problem and sometimes it appears during a gig or just at the soundcheck...

It's so crazy ! Where's the problem ?!

So thank you very very much for any help and reading me.

Laurent

PS : I have already sent an e-mail (a long time ago) to Genz-Benz but no answer...

Emails will get caught in a SPAM filter at times.

Try running a 1/4 " jack IN and OUT of the EFFECTS Sends and Receives on the rear of the amp. ALL of them... There is one for the FET and TUBE channel as well as Global... . Sometimes the connections in there will become corroded or dirty and you loose the connection between preamp and power section of the amp....
I would try that first.. Let us know what happens

Just give them a phone call. Jeff Genzler usually answers the phone. He'll talk it out with you and figure out how to get you sorted. Some of the best CS I've ever had from any company.

FWIW, it sounds to me like a preamp tube might be going out. Try swapping in a new one and try some jump cables in the effects loop as suggested above. Both seem to be pretty common culprits.

Thank you for yours answers !

Yes svtb15 I think you're right about my email in the SPAM filter.

So I have tried your advice running a jack In and Out of the effects sends and receives of the amp (all of them).

But the problem is there again. I will try again tomorrow !

Thank you again !
