Genz Benz 115T-UB Cab..Anyone Played One?

Sign in to disble this ad
I am thinking about getting a GB 115T-UB cab and was wondering if anyone had tried one? I play a ton of smaller rooms where the bass does not go thru the front of house and I think a 500 watt 1 x 15 cab might be just the ticket for filling out the bottom of the mix. I would be pairing it with a GB Shuttlemax 6.0. Thoughts? Input?

All I know is that Ubers are frickin awesome, and I wouldnt expect the 15 to be any different. My Uber 212 delivers in spades.

Do you already have the max 6.0? If its 8 ohm the 9.0 would be perfectly matched. Add another 15 and you have 900 watts of zeus' thunder at your diposal. If its 4 ohms the 6.0 could give it all it could take and a little bit extra so be careful.

Yes...I already have an GB NeoX 212T that I love, but it does not deliver the deep sub frequencies that a 15" can. I believe they are 8 ohm cabs, and I would prob use it in conjunction with a 2x10 some times, but I would be stoked if they had a 4ohm option.

Are they even released yet? Very little info is available on these when Googled. Otherwise, does anyone have suggestions on a great 500 watt - 600 watt 15" with Tweet and/or a 15" conbo cab with 6" or 10's built in?

Greg at RocketMusic just got one for his personal rig. He's pairing it with an Uber Quad cabinet. You could PM him (username RocketMusic) and get some info on it.

Thank you! I am a huge GB fan...although, I am secretly hoping they have a 15' + 6' + horn in the works...

OP:

Don't let the diameter of the driver dictate your choice of cab to fill out the low end. Driver diameter and low end frequency response are not necessarily related. I am pretty sure that the Uber 115 is loaded with an Eminence Kappalite 3015 (non-LF version). If indeed it is, that driver is "pretty good" at low end, but not nearly as capable as its cousin, the 3015LF. If you really want low and loud, I suggest you look into a cab that is loaded with an Eminence 3015LF. Don at LDS can make one for you and it would cost you significantly less than a GB Uber cab.

For the record, I have no affiliation with LDS.

I have considered and LDS buils as well...it is just tricky to purchase a cab without having the ability to play thru it first. I would love to play a cab with a LF driver....I have never had the oportunitty to gig such a rig..

Uber 212T with SM 6.0

If you're not too attached to your NeoX 212T and you want something with more low end you should really try the Uber 212T. It has a larger volume with more low and low mid emphasis than the NeoX 212T while still retaining good articulation. It's a fatter, meatier sound. The Uber 115T has a lowest usable freq at 41 Hz but is 8 ohm with a 99 dB efficiency. If you're looking for a single cab solution with the Shuttle Max 6.0, the Uber 212T has a lowest usable freq at 42 Hz but is 4 ohm with a 102 dB efficiency. It's a low end monster that matches very well with your amp.

That is very useful info! Thank you for the details. The Uber 15' would be much more attractive if a 4ohm option were offered.

I played thru a 115T-UB at Atlanta Bass Gallery the other day.
I LOVED IT!
It was the best sounding 1x15 cab in the store IMHO, and I played thru a bunch! ( 2 different Bag Ends (compact and full size box), Ampeg, Trace Elliot, DNA, Ashdown, Peavy, Warwick (which I ended up grabbing for 3 bills....))
The 115T-UB IS Pricey.....
Hopefully, I can find a used one someday to match up with my Warwick, to use for bigger venues, but the 1x15 gives me the old school thump I like for Blues and old R'n'B.

Has anyone played through a pair of Uber 115?

I think Greg at Rocket Music may have a gently used UBER 115 and a quad for sell. Hit him up.

I bet a pair would sound good with a ShuttleMax 9.2!

It has bottom but also nice throaty articulation with airy highs if you turn the tweeter up.

I'm curious how the GB 115T-UB tone compares to the 212T-UB?
