Genz Benz 6.0 Problem

Sign in to disble this ad
So I got this Shuttle 6.0 from a fellow tber and I'm having some problems with it..

The gain in the pre amp section of the amp doesn't give me any grit even when the gain is max this thing is just clean..

Any thoughts?

What kind of bass are you using?

Active or passive?

Active sir!

I even tried the Sadowsky with volume, bass and treble all the way up and gain at 10 on genz benz.. There's no light on the O/L Input and the tone is still clean..

Check to see if the active electronics on the bass have a trim (not trip) control that was set up to match levels with a typical passive bass.

Mild overdrive is generally possible with all but a few low level passive basses.

You can give Jeff a call at the factory and he can arrange for you to send it in to be sure there's nothing wrong with it, once you check out your bass's electronics for a trim adjustment.

The output of your bass is too low. The shuttle max series has a high gain switch that can give you what you want, but you are going to need to boost your output somehow to hit the tube harder on the 6.0. FWIW, my 6.0 gives me full fuzzy tubeness with my Spector but only mild grind with my Fender deluxe jazz.

No trip control on the Sadowsky.. Actually, I am not aiming for a Mild OD. All I want is a hint of a grit but even with gain at max the amp sounds very clean.. The gain basically acts like it was a volume control than overdriving the tube for tone..

As stated above, bass output is the primary factor. I have some basses that can acheive a lot of grit and others that cannot thru my Shuttlemax 6.0 (with and without the high gain swich). Can anyone recommend a replacement tube that would help th OP achieve the desired effect?

Do you have another bass you could try.Maybe a different cable? I've been able to get "grit" with many different basses through several different Genz heads.

Your Sadowsky should be fine especially if you had the bass cranked.
