Genz Benz amp questions

Sign in to disble this ad
Can someone summarize all the models? It seems like they've released a huge amount of amps in a short time and I'm not sure what the differences are other than the obvious (wattage, size, etc).

Can someone point me to a summary ? And how do these amps compare in tonality to:
  • MarkBass
  • Epifani
  • Euphonic Audio
  • Acoustic Image

Thanks in advance

That is a tall order to break down. The catch all head for me is the Shuttle 9.0... It is warm balsey and 900 watts at 4 ohms and 4 pounds. Perfect

GBE series - traditional transformer based "linear" power supply (yes Bob, not really linear... ), 2 channel w/ tube and FET, 5 band fixed eq, really heavy duty 2 ohm operation with PowerFlex circuit, conventional 2 and 3 speace rack mount.

Shuttle Max - Similar to the GBE's in features, 4 band eq w/ 2 sweep mids, compact and lightweight. The 12.0 has dual 600 watt power amps to drive less than 4 ohm total loads and has a fully redundant back-up power supply for the preamp and DI.

Shuttle - Single channel, lightweight, 3 band eq w/ 1 sweep mid. The 6.0 and 9.0 are a tube gain stage and the 3.0 is the FET gain stage. Really lightweight.

You might want to look at the info on the website, maybe download a manual or two.

Thanks for the breakdown. I did download a manual but the specs aren't all there. For example, treble control frequency point...

Varies with amount of boost or cut, but ballpark it's typically around 4-4.5kHz.

You might take a look at the block diagrams (where available), some of this information is contained in the applicable processing block.

I love my shuttlemax 12 through 2 Acme B-2 4ohm cabs and have ordered a 9.0 to power a 2x15 w/2x6 mids on order.
But you really have to try your options if possible. Markbass has some great stuff too.
For me the customer service at Genz is the tie breaker if there was a tie. On Memorial day weekend a company rep is answering your questions. I called once on an issue and the owner resolved my issue. What more can you say?
