Genz Benz Cab Questions

Sign in to disble this ad
For those who have used them please.

I'm thinking of adding some smaller cabs to my arsenal.

How would the Genz Benz NEOX-112T hold up to the Shuttle 9.0 using one at 8 ohms and two at 4 ohms?

And same question regarding the STL-12T cabs?

I like the idea of using one or two of the STL cabs for that 27 pound deal.

Most of the gigs we play seem to be right for using smaller cabs so why not?

I like the idea of the tilt with the NEOX cabs.

I'm thinking of selling my 4x10 and my 1x15 cabs since I rarely use them. I like my little 2x10 cab and would probably keep it. I generally keep three cabs as to leave one at two rehearsal spaces and one at home/for gigs.

Am I rambling yet?

The larger Shuttle cabs have a tilt back stand . The stl-210t has a tilt stand and the stl-12t too I believe.

I am loving this setup so far. The top cab can be tilted back on top of the bottom one, if necessary. I have not had it too loud, but its there if I need it.

One of the cabs with the Shuttle 9 can keep up with a loud drummer and 2 guitarists at a rehearsals.

a little. how do you keep one cab at two places?

anyway, while i've played a stl 12 and liked it fine and think it would be fine with a shuttle 9.0 as long as you keep an eye on volume and low end, i think the bigger neox cab would work out more to your benefit. not so heavy it's prohibitive and not so small that it can't sound heavy.

The Neox112T's probably displacement limited to around 100w or so, so 200-300w program. I'd say with the average fingerstyle type without much bass boost you wouldn't stand much chance of popping cabs with a Shuttle 9, as long as you're mindful of the volume and your dynamics.

The amp is more than capable of causing those cabs to explode in wreckage, however, so be mindful of that. Watch the bass boost and watch your slapping if you're that kinda guy. I'd recommend a sturdy compressor if you beat the crap out of the bass with your thumb, just to be sure.

It'll be quite loud, and sound amazing -- I love those cabs, some of my favorite on the market to this day. I'd love to see Genz update them with beefier drivers.

Nice cabs guys. I like the overall look of the NEOX Cabs but I like the idea of the lighter weight of the Shuttle Cabs.

Are the STL-12's smaller in internal cabinet volume?

Would the NEOX handle more abuse from the 9.0?

I'm talented.

Yeah they are not that heavy in the first place. Just pondering that 27 pounds too.

I didn't know that, will check the specs further.

I like the tilting idea especially for Upright Bass.

I run this exact set-up and it is amazing. I have played the shuttle cab, and I say go for the NeoX112T. Both of my NeoX112's have the kick back stand and I love it. 9 times out of 10, my shuttle 9.0 with a single 112 will work. I very rarely take both 112's.

Looking at the cab deminsions I can see the NEOX can push more air.

Would that translate into can be pushed harder than the STL-12?

Thanx.

So guys running the 9.0, no worries of exploding the NEOX Cabs with it?

In my opinion, you run more risk of blowing a cabinet with a smaller head. You can always do something stupid and toast a cabinet. Don't do stupid stuff and you will be fine! Use your ears. That cabinet should be painfully loud before you blow it.

I use a 9.0 mounted in the saddle of a Shuttle 1x12 combo all the time.

I also is it on top of one, Neox-112T.

How much can you abuse the cab?....none.

If you run the amp reasonably though, you won't have a problem.

Thank you guys. This pretty much tells me what I need to know.

I am a firm believer in not trying to run too small an amp pushed to the limit. I agree.

I do not play stupid loud anyway.

I think it would be cool to have the saddle on one of the cabs.

Most of the time I play with the master about half way up on my 9.0 into an 8 ohm load. Occasionally I run into a situation where I crank it a little past that.

The 9.0 is such a sweet sounding powerful amp.
