I wanted to tell the community of my great GB experience.
I bought GB products based on features and customer service.
Luckily I didn't have any issues until a couple of weeks ago.
I was messing around with my ShuttleMax 12 and found only one channel working and the protect light on. After some diagnostics, I figured I needed to contact GB service. I emailed GB that night and the next day I have a reply from Jeff G! He said contact this number an they will take care of you. I called, got a person right away, very pleasant and efficient. Gave her the S/N and within 5 minutes had an RA and instructions. Shipped it UPS, GB acknowledged the receipt, but a new power unit in, no questions asked and shipped it back all within 1 day. They sent a follow up tracking notice. I discovered I would be away and didn't want to leave it at my house, I called them up and they arranged a depot hold with UPS.
I can't say enough how great this service and treatment was.
I have other GB products and am glad I do. These guys definitely stand behind what they make and put the customer first.
Thanks Jeff and your team, you have a customer for life.

Similar stories seem to pop up here on a regular basis, GB customer service must be in a league of its own. Well, perhaps together with Hartke. Very, very cool!

| | Development Engineer: Genz Benz | | | | | Mike's problem of a bad output module highlights the internal back-up power supply and second module keeping the amp on line until the repair was made. With any other amp, there would have been no sound at the gig with this kind of failure. Every preamp function, DI out and one power amp continued to operate.
Glad it was an easy fix too.

Thanks again for the quick fix!

And one of the things i love about my MAX12.. Just in case of a mess, i still have a spare amp.. Never had that happen with my MAX12 though. Quote:

I'll second that - great products and a company that cares about and takes care of its customers. Can't get better than that.... |

I just got my Shuttle 9.0 back from GB which they services for me, got it back in a few days, fixed a small issue all with no cost to me even though I got the amp second hand here on TB. Love GB.

I emailed GB, and received a reply from Jeff Genzler. (spelled correctly?) Even though I had bought used, he sent me an RA and told me to return it for an upgrade....free. Wow!! They paid return shipping.
Got it back in less than a week. I currently own only 2 amp heads. Both are GB. I'm not now, or have I in the recent past, looked at another brand. Light, powerful, and backed by the best in the business

When I was first looking at and buying GB gear, I e-mailed questions to the company and to my surprise got detailed answers from Jeff G. within 24 hours. I have several Shuttle set-ups, which may seem excessive, but I play out of two locations and play all kinds of music.
I'd say their repair policy is great but none of my GB amps has required any repairs so far, so I have no experience with it.

Before I bought my ShuttleMAX 12.0, I'd noticed that several manufacturers claimed output power greater than the back-panel AC input power. Going on good comments re G-B on TB, I e-mailed JeffG, asking skeptically (and somewhat impolitely) how the output power (1200W) could be greater than the input power (800W, I believe.) Apparently non-physical, I thought. I had some deja vu about the exaggerated claims of the hi-fi audio field pre- FTC regs.
Shortly, I received a detailed and satisfying reply from G-B Product Development Engineer AndyF. Overlooking some ignorance on my part, he patiently explained how the duty cycle considerations and the FCC, UL and CE regs motivate their input power ratings. He pointed to sound reinforcement amp specs (e.g. QSC) and TB discussions for backup. I'd mentioned my engineering background and he replied in those terms. I have great respect for those that can and will adjust to their customers, and at that point I was only a potential customer.
I didn't think twice about purchasing an SM12. I've gigged it only a few times but am quite happy with the sweepable mids and FET/Tube mix, not to mention the weight. Those brilliant LEDs though, workin' on that!
Anyway, mine is not the most outstanding story, but G-B has another very satisfied customer and they deserve their props! |

I had a few companies that I could've gone with, but all the great stories and feedback on TB made Genz the front runner. When I started to put together my rig, decided which combinations would be best, Jeff and I spoke on the phone 3-4 times...he seemed more concerned about me getting the perfect rig than I was! In the end I choose a ShuttleMax 12.0 with an Uber 410 and Uber 212 cab. I play mostly upright and some electric bass in a loud band. I now have a great 'doubler' rig, headroom for days, and speak with Jeff once a month or so to give updates, road reports, etc. Fantastic people. I really can't say enough about this company.

I too am a Genz endorser and i went with them about 5 years ago after seeing how they approached customer Service issues. Incredible! Jeff is a gentleman and his crew are always there for any of us.. You cant get that security from many other amp companies if any at all.
Genz Benz has set the bar for customer service at a new level.
My rig has headroom for days and is adaptable to almost any genre.. Usually i use a 1288 and 115 Uber with either my Streamliner 900 or SM12 but sometime a pair or 1288s and 115 with the SM12.0.
Although, with the DI out i have done some large gigs with only the streamliner 900 and one Uber115 or when overseas an SVT backline rental as shown in pic below.
This thread needs some photos to liven it up..yeeeee hawwwww !!!
Streamliner 900 on rental 810
SM12.0 with Uber1288 x 2 and Uber115
Streamliner 900 on rental SVT 810 cab
And even small country gigs Streamliner 900 on Uber115. This is thick sounding !

Thanks again for the chat the other day...you suffered thru my stupid questions, once again! Later that day, I spoke with Jeff, told him you got me wanting to hear the 115, 1288 and Streamliner, for that matter...He told me for smaller upright gigs, the NEOX212 is getting a lot of love from upright players trying to get those 'woody' mids that make an upright sound so special...ARGH!!! So now I have at least 3 more cabs and another amp on my GAS list!!! BUT...I can't think of another company where I'm dying to own so many different models of the same brand. It's a good problem to have

I wanted to post photos to liven it up here and so people can see different combinations of genz parts to get the job done..
The NEOX212 is a GREAT cab!
Dont know if the Streamliner would be good for you if you use a Double Bass.. It might be better for you to use something that has more EQ options considering any problems one would have with a DB... I am CLUELESS when it comes to Upright basses so don't take my word on that..
The 115 is possible though..
My friend saw me gig with my SM12.. he didn't need that but instead he got a SM9.2 and he LOVES it....
I really think that your SM12 is the way to go if you are running an electric and and a DB in the same gig... Or possibly a 9.2 if you only need to run one 4 ohm load.
Thinking about it . the NEOX212 really might be cool. and it s light and LOUD too.. i think you can tame the lows easily with it or boost as you need without too much trouble. There is a TB player that is a buddy of mine that has alot of experience with the NOEX212 . look him up.. He is name is Gerry and TB name is FISHTX..
He doesn't play as loud as i do on some gigs.. lol.... but he knows that cab well...
